Welcome to Hindon CEVA Primary School ..............Where Happy Children Learn!

Please find below a link to a PDF file of Beowulf by Michael Morpurgo for the children to read if  they haven't already got  copy. You can read it to them if  they find it too difficult.

Every Monday at 2:15, there will be an assembly Zoom with Mark, our Vicar. The Zoom code for this will be sent to you on Class Dojo every Monday. It is not compulsory to attend these worship sessions, but all are welcome.

The timetable above is just a suggested timetable.

Spellings, handwriting, times tables and Maths should be able to be completed independently by the children and simply checked once they have finished. They do these every day and are more than capable of doing them by themselves with a small amount of support for word definitions.

Spellings and Handwriting

Each morning the children need to complete 2 of their spellings in their spelling book, beginning from Monday 11th with Set 1. They need to read the word, cover it up, write the word and then check their spelling, and repeat two more times.

After they have spelled the words the children then need to use them to complete 2 rows of each word in their handwriting books.

Once they have done this, the children need to look up each word in their dictionaries and write a sentence using each of the words.

Do this for 2 words each day, by Friday morning, they will have completed the entire list and you can test them on their words.

(They KNOW how to do this as we do it daily)

Times tables

Each day the children need to complete a page of their times tables. For simplicity, begin with the 2 times tables and work upwards.

Year 3/4 need to focus on the 2,3,4,5,8,10 but can venture into the others once they are secure in these.

Year 5/6 need to focus on their  6,7,9,11,12 because they should already be secure in the others. They can re-cap the Year 3/4 times tables once they have learned the 5/6 ones.

(They KNOW how to do this as we do it daily)

By now the children will be very secure with accessing White Rose Maths online. In their trays which were collected, they should have their books to go with the online lessons so there is no need to print out worksheets.

Once they have completed their worksheets the children know how to access the answer booklet. They are very good at marking their work on their own and can be trusted to do so without cheating :) just keep an eye for any mistakes they don't understand.

Each week I will write which pages the children should be working on each day in the folders at the bottom of  this page.

English and Topic

Each day at 11:30 and 12:10 there will be two scheduled meetings on Zoom for Kestrels,

11:30-12 will be for English input

12:10-12:40 will be for the Topic input (except on Thursdays where there will be two English lessons so both Zoom sessions will be for English)

Lesson plans will also be uploaded for those who can't make Zoom chats or get disconnected in the folders at the bottom of this page.

Each week the zoom meeting ID and password will change but the timings will remain the same. These details will be emailed to you all in a group email weekly, please do not reply to these emails.

You will all be muted when entering the Zoom chat, please do not un-mute yourselves as these sessions can not be question and answer based or they will be a mess. I will try my best to answer any questions that come up by asking you to put your hand up to the camera and I will try to get around to answering any I can.

Please accompany your children in these sessions (excluding Year 5) and ensure that everyone is suitably dressed and in an appropriate room i.e. not in a bedroom (unless it is at a desk)

Every two weeks or so you will have a reminder to bring the books back on the Friday to have them marked and collect the next body of work for the following two weeks.

These are very tough and challenging times for everyone, and we really have been overwhelmed by the support from you and your patience has been amazing. We understand that it might not always be possible to keep up with every piece of work that we send home, people have families and work commitments and we understand that this can be very daunting task at times but once again thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

If you miss lessons, try your best to catch up but please don't become overwhelmed, one or two missed lessons is not a disaster, the easier we can make this for you and your children, the better. However it is a mandatory/legal requirement that you are doing your best to keep up with the work at home and we appreciate how hard you have been, and will be working to ensure this is happening.

If you are struggling or have technical  difficulties then I will be uploading the lessons in the files below for you to complete in your own time.`

If you have ANY questions then please email me or contact me in your usual way and I will arrange a ten minute zoom 1:1 with you or a phone call.
