The timetable above is just a suggested timetable.
Spellings and handwriting should be able to be completed independently by the children and simply checked once they have finished. They do these every day and are more than capable of doing them by themselves with a small amount of support for word definitions.
To complete the maths work children will watch the videos provided and then complete the corresponding pages of their maths booklet which can be found in their packs.
Spellings and Handwriting
Each morning the children need to complete 2 of their spellings in their spelling book, beginning from Monday 11th with 'Set 2: Adding 'ing', 'er', 'est' and 'y' to words ending in 'e'. They need to read the word, cover it up, write the word and then check your spelling, then repeat two more times.
After they have spelled the words the children then need to use them to complete 2 rows of each word in their handwriting books.
Once they have done this, the children need to write a sentence using each of the words.
They know how to do this as we do it daily.
English will consist of online interactive lessons led by Oak Academy. Children will need a pencil and their English book which was included in their pack. Before each lesson children must write the short date and the title at the top of the page so this work can be marked and assessed when books are returned.
By now the children will be very secure with accessing White Rose Maths online. In their packs which were collected they should have their books to go with the online lessons so there is no need to print out worksheets.
I will also include the answers to each section so the children can mark their work.
The Y2 Owls are very good at marking their work on their own and can be trusted to do this :) Just keep an eye for any mistakes they don't understand.
Each week I will write which pages the children should be working on each day in the folders at the bottom of this page as well as the links to the videos that go with those pages.
This week our topic will be History.
Children have been provided with their topic books as part of their packs and any resources needed to complete this work have been stuck in and labelled with the lesson number . There will be 4 topic lessons each week and 4 Power Points will be uploaded at the start of each week. These will be labelled with the learning objective etc and will correspond with the labels in the topic books. Some children may need to be read the power point but can then complete the work independently.
Each week the zoom meeting ID and password will change but the timings will remain the same. These details will be emailed to you all in a group email weekly, please do not reply to these emails.
You will all be muted when entering the Zoom chat, please do not un-mute yourselves as these sessions can not be question and answer based or they will be a mess. I will try my best to answer any questions that come up by asking you to put your hand up to the camera and I will try to get around to answering any I can.
Please accompany your children in these sessions and ensure that everyone is suitably dressed and in an appropriate room i.e. not in a bedroom (unless it is at a desk)
Every two weeks or so you will have a reminder to bring the books back on the Friday to have them marked and collect the next body of work for the following two weeks.
These are very tough and challenging times for everyone, and we really have been overwhelmed by the support from you and your patience has been amazing. We understand that it might not always be possible to keep up with every piece of work that we send home, people have families and work commitments and we understand that this can be very daunting task at times but once again thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
If you miss lessons, try your best to catch up but please don't become overwhelmed, one or two missed lessons is not a disaster, the easier we can make this for you and the children, the better.
If you have ANY questions then please email me or contact me in your usual way and I will endeavour to respond as soon as possible.
Mr Williams :)
