Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty; Hindon Primary School is a small, rural village school where a creative curriculum; good teaching and a holistic approach to supporting the development of the whole child, enables each, individual child to flourish.
"Teaching is good. It is particularly strong in the Key Stage Two class where pupils have excellent attitudes to learning and respond enthusiastically to hard work" Ofsted 2014. "The school through its distinctive Christian character, is outstanding at meeting the needs of all learners" SIAMs Report May 2015
Specialist Music and Sports teaching help all our pupils discover their potential and a commitment to local sports partnerships enable our children to take part in competitions and festivals. We swim every Friday morning at Port Regis.
On site facilities include spacious, well resourced classrooms; a school kitchen where our cook prepares nutritious home-made meals; a PE hall; a playground with Monster Play slides and climbers; a school playing field with our 'Wild Area' attached and a secure 'Early Years' garden.
Pupils benefit from our Wild Area all year round. Wellington boots and waterproof leggings are part of our uniform! Pupils have access to the wild area at playtime where they can build dens, climb on logs, make mud pies or climb in the tree house. Outside learning is part of every day life at Hindon School. Dedicated Forest School sessions are led by our Forest School teacher. Welly Walks across the Downs and our daily mile walk also encourage pupils to benefit from a health lifestyle.
Excellent curriculum enrichment activities; visitors and visits add greatly to the pupils' enjoyment of school and to their learning. At Hindon School, our aim is to include every child in a wide range of activities so that individual skills and interests have the opportunity to flourish. 'One of the school’s strengths is its work to make sure pupils enjoy a range of experiences which ignite their interest. Pupils learn in vibrant and inspiring classroom environments, and benefit from a wide range of educational visits that enrich the curriculum'
We are proud that our pupils can explain to you how they develop their own learning skills! "Standards at the end of Year 6 are high in reading and maths and above average in writing" Ofsted 2014. "Year 6 pupils say their learning is 'challenging and interesting' - this is evident in the increasing proportion of pupils reaching the highest available levels in national tests " Ofsted 2014. 'Teachers now challenge the most able pupils more effectively. As a result, more pupils reached the higher standards in reading, writing and mathematics by the end of key stage 1 in 2018' Ofsted 2018
We have very supportive parents who value the benefits of a close working partnership with our staff. Parents and Carers are welcome to join us on Friday morning for Celebration Assembly.
We open our doors at 8.00 am for Breakfast Club and we can facilitate after school care via mini bus to a local Primary School a few miles away until 6.00 pm.
We are a feeder primary school for the excellent Secondary School in Gillingham and have very good transition links.
Our Ethos Statement 'Where Happy Children Learn through Outside Adventure and a Creative Curriculum' underpins all areas of school life. "Excellent pupil behaviour and attitudes reflect high quality relationships based on the schools distinctively Christian values" SIAMs Report May 2015.
