At Hindon Primary School music is a way for children to express their emotions enjoyably and creatively. It plays an important role in personal development and we aim to provide opportunities for all children to create, play, perform, listen, analyse and enjoy music across a wide range of periods, genres and styles. We are committed to ensuring children understand the value and importance of music in the wider community and aim to provide opportunities for children to use their musical skills, knowledge and experiences to involve themselves in music, in a variety of different contexts.

Our Music programme is taught by a specialist Music teacher  and aims to develop pupils’ confidence, creativity, and enjoyment of music, encouraging them to think and work like musicians. Music is taught each term across all three classes, ensuring regular and progressive exposure to key musical skills. The curriculum follows a spiral approach, allowing pupils to revisit and build on prior learning with increasing depth. Through practical music-making, pupils develop their understanding of rhythm, pitch, tempo, dynamics, and structure, as well as their ability to work collaboratively and reflect on their learning. This approach fosters musical appreciation, self-expression, and confidence, preparing pupils to engage with music both in school and in the wider world.
