The best classrooms are roofed only by the sky!
At Hindon School, access to the outside environment is a fundamental element of our holistic approach to education and wellbeing. We believe that outside learning promotes self-esteem, creativity, confidence, risk taking, team work and independence in our pupils.
We have a dedicated Forest School teacher who plans weekly outside learning sessions for all our pupils that build on personal, social, health and wellbeing needs and development of young children.
At Hindon School within our rural setting, we have an ideal, natural outside learning environment within our school grounds and in the countryside that surrounds our school. We have our own, natural 'Wild' area woodland and also access the chalk downs, follow ancient footpaths and sunken lanes or explore local woodland.
Our focus on outside learning is a bold effort to provide an alternative form of education to the traditional sedentary, academic, and increasingly technological forms of education that we are used to and is part of our effort to foster the knowledge and skills required for the citizens of tomorrow?
